Day 9 July 8th of the bike trip has been officially coined "Dig Deep Day." We knew it would be the toughest day we'd faced so far and quite possibly one of the most difficult climbs of the whole trip. We camped out about 5 miles into the Great Smokies at the "Smokemont" campsite. The night of July 8th was the first night we had to camp out since our first night in the Outer Banks. The ground was hard and we didn't get a great night's sleep. Unfortunately we didn't see any bears, (that would have made a great video).
